{"id":15,"date":"2015-02-05T04:18:07","date_gmt":"2015-02-05T04:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/findingourroots.ca\/?p=6"},"modified":"2015-02-05T04:18:07","modified_gmt":"2015-02-05T04:18:07","slug":"another-family-history-adventure-commences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/findingourroots.ca\/?p=15","title":{"rendered":"Another Family History Adventure Commences!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello World is the default post for many blogs, and I like it, so I am going to use it too.<\/p>\n<p>I had thought for a long time about doing a blog because I have so much fun doing family history.\u00a0 It is definitely one adventure after another.\u00a0 I had a friend once tell me I should write a book about these adventures.\u00a0 Who knows maybe one day I will.<\/p>\n<p>I have been doing family history research since I was about 12 years old.\u00a0 My interest started long before the research began.\u00a0 You see I spent much time with my grandmother.\u00a0 She did not talk very much about herself, but as a child I was always curious about what life was like growing up on a farm in Eastern Ontario.\u00a0 She did indulge me on the rare occasion with a story.\u00a0 She is the reason why I started to do family history research.\u00a0\u00a0 So this very\u00a0first blog\u00a0posting is dedicated to my grandmother, and I think that she smiles down upon me as I discover her life through records from the past.<\/p>\n<p>It is only with time that I have discovered perhaps why\u00a0my grandmother\u00a0did not talk much about her life.\u00a0 Like so many people, she experienced a tremendous amount of heartache at a very young age, and these experiences drew\u00a0 me\u00a0in closer to see what I could uncover, and explain about her life.<\/p>\n<p>Margaret Agnes Moore was born in Chesterville, Ontario in 1899.\u00a0 Her mother Annie Martin passed away when Margaret was 6 months old.\u00a0 Margaret had a brother, John Edward Moore, born in 1896.\u00a0 John Edward Moore\u00a0joined the CEF during WW1 in Brockville, Ontario,\u00a0and John\u00a0died shortly after his return to Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Margaret married my grandfather, Michael Patrick Corrigan,\u00a0in 1926 at St. Brigid&#8217;s Parish, and together they\u00a0had 7 children, of which only 5 survived to adulthood.\u00a0 Margaret&#8217;s husband Michael died in 1955, and\u00a0Margaret lived to be 97 years old (just a few months shy of her 98th birthday).<\/p>\n<p>Margaret was an amazing person, you would never think that such a wonderful lady would have such difficult trials.\u00a0 She was the type of person that was happy, gentle, and generous to everyone.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/findingourroots.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Margaret-Agnes-Moore.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9\" alt=\"Margaret Agnes Moore\" src=\"https:\/\/findingourroots.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Margaret-Agnes-Moore-300x259.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/findingourroots.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Margaret-Agnes-Moore-and-John-Edward-Moore.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7\" alt=\"Margaret Agnes Moore and John Edward Moore\" src=\"https:\/\/findingourroots.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Margaret-Agnes-Moore-and-John-Edward-Moore-200x300.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have to admit that for\u00a0myself, I have found these\u00a0 family history adventures to be quite therapeutic, and I hope you enjoy them too!\u00a0 Please, come along and join me&#8230;.until next time happy researching!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello World is the default post for many blogs, and I like it, so I am going to use it too.
